When I was given an interview with George Talkie, who starred lightly in Star Trek: The Original Series, I jumped in. A descriptive character in Star Trek Fleet Command, he shared with me his thoughts on a game that is no longer cross-platform, the evolution of technology, the promise and threats of AI, and the challenges that come with researching the planet we are on. . Generation after generation, evil AIs have been wrestling with the supercomputers controlling the ship and the androids trying to seduce the crew. Do you think show creator Gene Roddenbury is concerned about AI becoming a threat to its existence?
Aside from science fiction, I personally believe that AI cannot be the enemy. It is simply a tool for determining the outcome of human judgment.
The New York Times has an excellent article about AI writing its own code and poetry, but it does so based on the information people give. AI should not be seen as a form of creative mind, rather it is an important aid in helping to explore the problems of the universe.
Now we have entered the era of space tourism. Are you interested in climbing?
In some cases, I feel lost. Jean’s son Ray Roddenberry took me and my husband Pratt to the Zero-G Experience in Las Vegas. After a vague crushing feeling that some people had actually missed breakfast, there was an incredibly lighter feeling than the air when we were floating. I wonder what the galaxy should look like.
Star Trek progressed beyond its time in many ways, but what most people didn’t realize was that it was performed by comedian Lucille Paul, best known for his role in the sitcom, I Love Lucy. What’s the story then?
Lucille Paul, a talented businesswoman, negotiated the rights to her show with her husband and co-star Desi Arnas and turned a profit with Desilo Productions. After their divorce, she took over the studio and named Hollywood screenwriter Herb Solo as production head, bringing her Star Trek pitches from Jean. When the network rejected the first pilot, he agreed for a second, which was unusual, but he got the network, and I added it.
An interesting side story is that Jeannie’s girlfriend (and later husband) appeared in the first pilot as a second pilot, but the network wanted that role as a man, so Jeanne gave her a blonde wig. How do you feel about being a playable character in the Star Trek Fleet Command game?

What do you see as the greatest threat to humanity as we travel to explore the unknown?
